UMaine student researchers want to bring space technology to Maine homes

Student researchers at UMaine want to bring their space technology into Maine homes to help the aging community.

BANGOR Maine, (NEWS CENTER) -- Student researchers from the University of Maine in Orono want to help the aging community by using space technology in their homes.

Over 500 student researchers from UMO gathered to share their findings Wednesday afternoon at the Cross Insurance Arena in Bangor. One group will be sending their sensor link technology into space this summer with NASA. They realized that they would be able to do much more than help the space community with their device.

Professor Ali Abedi thinks the technology will cut the costs for elders and also allow them to stay in their homes longer. "INSERT QUOTE ABOUT HOW IT WORKS". Something Maine people can appreciate.

They are hoping to have the technology out within the next few years at a low cost to consumers.
