Bangor homicide victim's friends speak out

Friends and family remember Jason Moody the day the man accused of beating him to death was scheduled to appear in court.

BANGOR (NEWS CENTER Maine) -- The same day the man accused of beating a Bangor man to death was expected in court, the victim's friends spoke out.

Jason Moody, 40, was found unconscious on Nov. 11 and later died at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center. Donald Galleck, 29, was arrested five days later in connection with Moody's death.

Gallack appeared before a judge for the first time on Monday. He is being held without bail in connection to these charges.

He also pled not guilty on a domestic violence charge and a violation of bail charge.

Friends of Moody remember him as someone that would do anything for anyone.

"Jason was just an amazing guy. A good friend," said Robert Kearns. "He would do anything for anybody."

For people that knew Moody, they aren't sure what to think about his passing.

"Anger, grief, shock, disbelief," said Shannon Denbow.

Moody was a bass player in a heavy metal band in Bangor.

"It was really a hardcore part of his soul," Kearns said. "He was so proud to get a new awesome bass. He was thrilled when he played our church, you know heavy metal in a church. He was thrilled, giddy."

"[He was] just an artist. A life artist." Denbow said.
