BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - The year’s work of over 500 students from the University of Maine in Orono is on display at the Cross Insurance Center Wednesday in the annual “Student Research Symposium.”

The students – both graduate and undergraduate – hope their research can make a difference in Maine communities.

The joint research symposium offers UMaine students a chance to talk with people in Maine, including those who benefit from their research.

One of the student leaders said that a large focus of both the event - as well as research at UMaine in general - is finding solutions to any problems in Maine.

For example, some students may do presentations on protecting wild blueberry crops, or others may start a discussion on how to improve education in our state, especially rural areas.

The event runs from 9 AM to 5 PM at the Cross Insurance Center.
