KENNEBUNK, Maine — Three people from North Yarmouth were injured Thursday when the station wagon they were in left the Maine Turnpike and hit a tree.
State police said the crash happened around noon and took place on the southbound side of I-95 in Kennebunk.
According to Maine's Public Safety spokesperson, the Subaru Outback skidded on the wet road, overturned on its side and struck a tree.
The driver was identified as 18-year-old Lauren Burrell. Her passengers included her mother, Regina Burrell-Krause, 46, and Mark Cenci, 64.
All three were taken to a Portsmouth, New Hampshire, hospital.
Cenci was the most seriously injured, the spokesperson said, and was being treated for a head injury.
Traffic was slightly affected by slowdowns, but southbound traffic kept moving.
