Michael D. Wilson is very passionate about photography. He's traveled the world learning and working for high-end shooters, from celebrity portraits to major advertising campaigns. He's schlepped, dragged, dropped and focused more gear than most photographers in Maine ever touch in their career. But it's not about the gear. Moving to Maine a few years back he had it in him to put a promotional piece together that brings out the character of the culture he was embedded with. A completely personal project funded by his own means, he'd spend time, lots of time, with loggers in northern Maine. He photographed them in their environment, using their gear, tools of the trade. In the winter, hauling logs, falling timber. Then he printed this project on newsprint that was most likely sourced from the pulp the subjects were harvesting trees for. It's a remarkable project.
