Red Cloak Haunted History Tours

There's an opportunity to get a scare as well as learn some history on a red cloak haunted history tour.

BATH, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Tombstones tell a person's name, birth and death, but when you attend a Red Cloaked Haunted History Tour you'll learn much more than that.

The tours were started 10 years ago by Sally Lobkowicz who leads many of the tours in her red cloak, hence the name of the business. In a decade it's grown to eleven different tours offered in 8 Maine towns and cities. All full of history that gives some insight into how each area was founded.

"People know these names, they've grown up with these names," said Lobkowicz. "But they don't really know the true history behind it and how they are all intertwined together."

One of the tours is the famed ship builders and sea captains tour in Bath that starts on a trolley and ends at the Oak Grove Cemetery. It's there that the group walks through the rows of tomb stones to find out more about the men and women who helped make Bath ship building mecca.

"You just learn more bits and pieces of little things from being here about the death and the wives and so much," said tour participant Ellen Whiting. "Plus it's the history of Bath, which is fascinating to me."
