Chances are you missed seeing The Beatles live.

If you haven't figured out how to go back in time to Germany in the early 60's when the crowds were so excited by The Beatles they would throw their chairs on stage, you probably won't be able to see The Beatles live. Here's the antidote, Spencer & The Walrus at the State Theater in Portland.

The weekend after Thanksgiving is a tradition in & of itself. Families gather for the meal and rejoin & rejoice with what they are grateful for. All the college kids that have flown the coop for the beginning of the rest of their lives, return, fill the bars with stories of keg stands and new romances and sleep in for the weekend. The rest of us, go to Spencer & The Walrus and listen to live versions of songs that have been around since before your mother was born. We bring our children and make memories with them singing "Oh Darlin'" at the top of our lungs with the rest of the crowd. It is an unforgettable event.

Spencer Albee has been in the works on a Beatles event for the past 15 years. This is the 16th year he has put on The Beatles. He's assembled the musicians and arranged the event to bring a one of a kind evening featuring music you have most likely been listening to for your lifetime. There are moments that may even make you weep. Watching Tim Emery rip into My Guitar Gently Weeps, is something to behold.

It will run for the weekend after Thanksgiving and feature some of the best Maine music talent available. Maine Youth Rock Orchestra will fill in the strings sections and feature young musicians. A brass section will blow behind them and the music that changed the world will ring down Congress Street.

It is an event to remember.
