In a review of his music, The Portland Press Herald's Mike Olcott called Dana Gross a "vessel," saying that some people calculate and create music, but others tap into an inner wellspring of emotion and creation.
And as a vessel, Dana was firmly in the latter camp.
Musician Samuel James puts it another way. He says Dana is one of the only songwriters who can write about nature without it sounding corny.
Whatever the case may be, Dana has been working on tightening up his songwriting as he returns to performing with his band, Los Federales.
