PORTLAND, Maine — If you've opted to stay in this Valentine's Day, there are plenty of ways to impress your date. One way is to share your love over a cocktail you've created.
Whether you want to go for color or flavor, Andrew Volk of Little Giant and Portland Hunt + Alpine Club shares the recipe for an original cocktail, and one that has been around since the 1920's.
Clover Club
1 1/2 oz gin
1/2 oz lemon juice
1/2 oz raspberry syrup
1/2 oz dry vermouth
1/2 oz egg white
Shake with ice and strain (to eliminate small ice chunks) into a cocktail glass.
Firecracker
1 1/2 oz vodka
3/4 oz lime juice
3/4 oz chili syrup
Shake and strain into a Collins glass; fill with soda water and serve with ice.
