PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A Maine author who is well traveled had a big surprise for a group of 4th graders at Portland's Hall School Wednesday.

James Kaiser, who is a Bangor native, gave out copies of his own guide book to Acadia National Park to help them commemorate the centennial of the US Park Service.

"What I really want to do is let these kids know not only is there a national park in our own back yard... there's a world class national park. I've traveled all over the world and Acadia is still one of my favorite places," said Kaiser.
