POLAND (NEWS CENTER Maine) —

UPDATE: A couple who live within the RSU 16 school district are offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the individuals who slashed tires on 22 school buses.

Police asked the public on Wednesday for help finding the two men they believe slashed the tires of an entire fleet of busses, causing over $12,000 in damages and canceling school.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Deputy Jon Guay at 753-2599.

Deputies with the Androscoggin County Sheriff's Office said two white men vandalized the busses of RSU 16 around 12:35 a.m. Wednesday at the Administrative Office in Poland.

Without buses to bring students to school, RSU 16 had to cancel classes on Wednesday.

The district, which covers Minot, Mechanic Falls and Poland, announced the closure on its Facebook page.

According to police, the men used their shirts to conceal their faces. Deputies say their investigation led them to a vacant home on Rosewood Drive in Poland which is close to the RSU 16 office.

A request was filed with state officials to help provide enough transportation so classes can resume by Thursday.
