Parts of Carmel and Etna asked to 'shelter in place'

Penobscot County Sheriff's Department confirms people who live on the west side of Carmel or the east side of Etna should 'shelter in place'.

CARMEL, Maine — UPDATE: As of 2:20 p.m. Thursday, the Penobscot County Sheriff's Department said the 'shelter in place' is no longer in place. However, they would not provide any more information on the events that led to it.

The town of Carmel advises people who live on the west side of town or the east side of Etna along Route 2 to "lock all doors and windows and stay inside their homes."

Penobscot County Dispatch confirms that a "shelter in place" in that area is advised.
