MACHIAS, Maine — Part of High Street in Machias was closed throughout the day Thursday as the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit investigate a death.
Officials had not released any information by late afternoon, but NEWS CENTER Maine crews saw what appeared to be a body on the ground, and then watched what appeared to be a body loaded into a hearse that then drove away.
Neighbors reported hearing what sounded like multiple gunshots fired at around 12:30 a.m. Thursday.
State police had not released any information as of 5:45 p.m.
