ANGOLA, N.Y. — A Brant man is charged with murder in connection to the death of an Angola woman, whose body was found earlier this month.
Erie County District Attorney John Flynn says Gina Baca, 45, had been reported missing on June 26 after her last contact with her mother. Her body was found by troopers July 1 in a wooded area off Rt. 438 in Brant.
Keith Renaldo, Jr., 38, was arrested on Wednesday afternoon and then arraigned on a murder charge in Brant Town Court. The District Attorney's office says he's accused of fatally shooting Baca with a shotgun on or around June 26.
On Thursday, Flynn said it appears Baca and Renaldo grew up together on the reservation and had an on-again, off-again relationship.
He also described the shotgun wounds to her head and left side as some of the most gruesome his investigators have ever seen.
No gun has been recovered in connection with the shooting.
Renaldo, Jr. is currently being held at the Erie County Holding Center until he's due back in court next week.
