PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Kitty Broihier, Guiding Stars advisor and Registered and Licensed Dietician, joins Katie to talk about some gluten-free flour options.

May is Celiac Awareness Month. Celiac disease is an immune reaction to eating gluten, a protein that's found in wheat, barley and rye. Gluten can cause an immune response in the small intestine for those who have the disease, causing inflammation that damages the lining of the intestine.

Here are some of Kitty's suggestions for gluten-free flour:

  • Almond flour
  • Coconut flour
  • Gluten-free all-purpose flour blend
  • Chickpea flour

These flours can be used in place of regular flour in all your favorite recipes!
