BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- This is a milestone year for the Kenduskeag Stream Canoe Race.
The annual race is celebrating its 50 year anniversary.
Pre-registration is going on right now. The river levels are looking to be about average.
Its' a big difference from a year ago when the race had to be postponed because there was still ice on the water.
"Last year at this time we were looking at ice all up and down this stream and were contemplating. Actually deciding for the first time to postpone the race," explained Bangor Parks and Recreation Director Tracy Willette
"Not as much snow so there's not as much runoff so the waters not too low its not too high so I think its going to be at a perfect level for everyone on Saturday."
The race starts at 8:30 Saturday morning. Paddlers can pre-register online or register the day of the race.
