CANAAN, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A youth minister from Clinton charged with sexually abusing a young girl made his first court appearance Monday morning.

Lucas Savage was arrested by State Police back in March.

The 37-year-old was the director of ministries at Youth Haven Ministries in Canaan, which is affiliated with the Canaan Calvary Church.

He is being charged with unlawful sexual contact of a minor under the age of 12.

Police say the abuse happened in Savage's home in Clinton.

According to an affidavit, Savage's wife was sometimes in the same room when Savage inappropriately touched his victim.

The affidavit also states the abuse happened several times and it mentions other possible victims.

Bail terms were modified Monday so Savage can have supervised contact with his unborn child but otherwise no contact with children under the age of 16.

Savage did not enter a plea. He will return to court in July 21.
