Greenville, ME (NEWSCENTER Maine) -- Karin Tilberg is the new leader of The Forest Society of Maine. FSM is a land trust with a focus on conserving forestland throughout Maine's North Woods.

Tilberg has worked for FSM since 2011 as the deputy executive director to oversee and implement FSM’s expanded presence in the Moosehead Lake region and to work with forestland owners to design and implement forest conservation projects.

Tilberg is a native of Pennsylvania and graduate of The University of Vermont with a degree in Wildlife Biology. She came to Maine to teach backpacking on the Appalachian Trail.

Previously involved in Washington with the establishment of the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge, she enrolled at UMaine Law School.

Upon graduation, she went into private practice, She has an extensive conservation background including work as a Senior Policy Advisor to Maine Governor John Baldacci.
