NEW GLOUCESTER, Maine — Turkey season is here, and that means hunters are going afield early. Most hunters will be in their blinds by 4:30 in the morning.
It's a special time for Tim and Patrick Estes of New Gloucester. Patrick is 18 years old and learned the sport from his father.
"I mean, it's great. We get up early in the morning and get to enjoy the woods together," Patrick said.
Last year -- his last as a junior hunter -- Patrick scored a grand slam, taking a moose, a deer, a bear and a turkey.
The fun part was the hunting. The hard part was being drawn for the moose permit.
"It takes a little bit of luck," he smiled.
Turkey hunting season in Maine lasts until June 1. For more information on seasons, click here.
