AUGUSTA, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- This is the time of year that sled dogs get ready for their favorite winter sport. Teams of six, four, two or one dog are leashed to carts, bikes or people to compete in the sport of drylanding.
Drylanding is essentially sled dog racing on dirt.
The fastest growing part of the sport is the one dog event in which people lash their pet to their waists and run a course. It's great exercise for human and dog.
We caught the action at the Maine Highlands Sled Dog Club. This organization encourages beginners to get involved.
