89-Year old graduates from UM-Farmington

Dot White took a course almost every semester since 1971 to earn a Bachelor's in English

FARMINGTON (NEWSCENTER Maine) -- To the sound of bagpipes playing "Scotland the Brave", 370 University of Maine at Farmington paraded through the streets of the university.

“During their time at UMF, our nearly 400 graduates have dreamed about and diligently pursued that moment when they walk across the stage,” said University of Maine at Farmington President Kate Foster. “The moment never gets old."

The star of the day was 89 year old Dot White who is believed to be the eighth oldest person to earn a college degree degree in the United States.

She took one course most semesters since 1971 to earn her Bachelor's degree in English.
