Sam Rogers is a Multiskilled Journalist at NEWS CENTER Maine, in Portland, specializing in general assignment reporting.
Sam is from Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, a Worcester suburb in the Central Mass region.
He comes to Maine from nearby New Hampshire, where he was a 2019 graduate of the University of New Hampshire. While at UNH his peers gave him the nickname, “Director of Morale”.
At UNH, Sam was the sports director at WUNH, the campus radio station. Sam called UNH hockey, football, basketball, and lacrosse games as a play-by-play broadcaster. Sam also was a sports staff writer for the school paper covering the hockey and basketball beats.
Sam knew he wanted to join the broadcasting world since he attended a summer camp called ‘Sports Center for Kids’. The camp taught the campers how to research and write a news story, while also giving them practice editing, shooting, and anchoring the story on TV. Sam attended the camp from second grade up until high school.
If you don’t see him on TV, Sam is probably playing golf, playing pond hockey, or exploring some of Maine’s best breweries.
