Cindy Williams in an Anchor and Reporter with NEWS CENTER Maine in Portland. She has been covering Maine news and the people making it since 1989.
Though she is not from Maine originally, she has lived here far longer than any other state, making this her real home. Her father was in the military, so she moved all over the U.S. That did not stop when she graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1985 with a degree in Radio, Television and Film. She worked at stations in Mississippi and New Hampshire before joining NEWS CENTER and settling down. Williams has won several awards from the Associated Press and the Maine Association of Broadcasters for her anchoring and reporting. She currently co-anchors the Noon , 5:30 and 6 p.m. newscasts.
Cindy lives in the Portland area with her husband, NEWS CENTER Maine's morning anchor Lee Nelson. They have 2 grown sons. Xander is a morning radio DJ, music teacher and band leader in Portland. His younger brother Noah is a senior at Bowdoin College in Brunswick. As a result, Cindy and Lee are big fans of local music and Bowdoin Football.
