Storm track shifting closer to us mid-week | Breton Blog

Until there's a convincing reason to believe this one will buck the trend and go the other way, I'm planning on at least some snow.

Spring begins Tuesday, but it still looks like we may be in for some more snow this week.

Canadian high pressure, responsible for the weekend chill, will remain in control Monday and Tuesday. Highs on Monday will be in the upper 20s to low 30s; Tuesday will be a bit less cold, with highs rising into the 30s.

A first batch of moisture will scoot far south of New England on Tuesday, as the storm track is suppressed to the south.

As discussed yesterday, I couldn't write off the Wednesday/Thursday storm even though no model was tracking it close enough for a hit.

High pressure centered over southern Canada starts to loosen its grip on Wednesday, allowing the storm track to adjust closer to us.

Now the models seem to be coming around to that idea. The timeframe is late Wednesday into Thursday.

At the moment, it doesn't look like it will be as strong or as large as recent storms, but a decent snow accumulation is possible.

We'll nail down the track of it over the next 24 to 36 hours, then start to talk about specific totals. I'd plan for at least some snow late Wednesday into Thursday morning.

By the way, there's still a chance it shifts farther away from us, but we know the trend this winter has been the opposite.

Until there's a convincing reason to believe this one will buck the trend and go the other way, I'm planning on at least some snow out of it.
