Midcoast dance instructor accused of sexually abusing female student

NEWCASTLE (NEWS CENTER Maine) — A man from North Monmouth, who works as a dance instructor in the midcoast, Lewiston-Auburn and Augusta areas, is accused of sexually abusing one of his female students.

Ryan Morrill, 31, was recently arrested after the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office received information that a dance instructor at a studio in Newcastle was involved in a sexual relationship with a female student who was age 14 or 15 at the time.

The sheriff's office said its investigation revealed Morrill was involved sexually with the 14- or 15-year-old female for about a 10-month period.

Morrill was charged with Class C sexual abuse of a minor and taken to Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset. He's being held on $1,000 cash bail.

Police said Ryan is a dance instructor at several other dance studios in the towns of Lewiston, Auburn, Thomaston, Winthrop and Augusta. They say it is possible there are other victims involved in this case.

Victims are encouraged to contact Det. Sgt. Ronald Rollins at 882-7332 or your local police agency. Police say their investigation is on-going and further charges are expected.
