FREEPORT, Maine (NEWS CENTER) — Blizzard conditions on Tuesday left several cars stranded in both directions on I-295.
According to spokesperson Ted Talbot, a Maine DOT plow also went off the road. DOT then pulled its plows off the interstate for more than an hour this evening between Freeport and Bowdoinham because of the dangerous conditions.
The snowplow driver told photojournalist John Blunda that he "suffered no injuries – except his pride."
They said they hope to have to road cleared shortly and hope to have the plows back on the road in about a half hour or so.
There were no injuries reported as of early Tuesday night. Maine DOT urged drivers to stay off the roads until conditions improved.
