April snow | GUTNER BLOG

It may be April, but the first half of this month looks cold.

I've been warning you for about a week now. April, at least the first half, doesn't look kind.

Normally, April is a decent transition month from the cold season to the warm one. We often get several tastes of warmer weather. But, the way I see it, these next two weeks won't offer many mild days at all.

Much of the time, our temps will be below normal levels.

April also usually throws a little snow at us. In fact, we average a couple of inches for the month. This week Mother Nature will attempt to keep those averages from dropping. A storm system will move in during the middle of the week. Enough cold air will be around Tuesday evening when the precipitation arrives so that most locals see sleet pellets and snowflakes.

Most won't get any accumulation and if there is any, it will quickly get washed away by rain and warmer temps. But the mountains and the far north will pick up a few inches of wet snow Tuesday night.
