This is how Mainers tailgate for a Patriots playoff game

FOXBOROUGH, MA (NEWS CENTER Maine) -- Dozens of Mainers went to Gillette Stadium Saturday to cheer on the New England Patriots during the team's AFC Divisional matchup against the Tennessee Titans.

A group of nearly 25 from Rockland made the trip, including lobstermen Jeff Curtis and Clayton Witham.

"My coming here to day was a dream come true. My wife surprised me a couple of nights ago. She told me to clear my schedule for this weekend and she told me I was coming to a Patriots' playoff game," said Curtis. "This is my first playoff game. I'm extremely excited."

The group brought lobsters from Matinicus and scallops that they had just recently harvested.

Witham has season tickets, and said they came with a caravan of 12 vehicles to set up their massive tailgate.

"It's playoff football. It's the best place -- there's no better place to be," said Witham.

Chris Goode and Steve Temple traveled with friends from Brunswick to the game, including their friend Shane Mitchell, who is a Titans fan, and was attending his first ever NFL game in person.

"Patriot football – playoff time? Let’s go! Hopefully the defense is up to the challenge and will get after it," said Goode, who was optimistic about the Patriots' chances.

"Nobody beats the patriots in Foxboro. Let’s see if there’s an upset today," said Mitchell, who served in the military for 22 years, and just moved to Maine this June after previously serving in Brunswick. "I love Maine, the whole state is one huge small town."

Mitchell was the only Titans fan among three other New England fans.

"We had the classic, good-natured ribbing," said Temple. "He's a good guy, but we're not friends the moment -- at least until the end of the game anyway."

Chris Corbin and two other friends came from the greater Portland area.

"Hopefully it's a blowout," said Corbin.

The blustery winds didn't stop fans from Maine from enjoying the atmosphere.

"It doesn't matter how cold it is. It doesn't matter what the weather is like," said Stephanie Boissonneault, who traveled with her husband from Sanford. "Once you get down here and everybody's excited, you get warm just from the excitement."
