Maine mayors will have to pay up, one with his hair

The Patriots loss leads to sorrow for two Maine mayors.

(NEWS CENTER Maine) -- Two Maine mayors will have to pay up with Maine goods this week after the New England Patriots lost the Super Bowl to the Philadelphia Eagles 41 - 33.

Portland mayor Ethan Strimling and Bangor mayor Ben Sprague both made Super Bowl bets with their counterparts in Portland and Bangor, Pennsylvania.

Strimling will have to send Portland, PA mayor Lance Prator Portland-made gin, a beer sampler, and live lobsters. The kicker of the deal will be that Strimling will have to shave his head. Strimling told NEWS CENTER Maine Sunday night he was, 'getting one last look at my hair.'

Sprague won't have to go quite so far to pay his bet.

The mayor of Bangor, Pennsylvania Brooke Kerzner will receive whoopie pies from Governor's Restaurant, a blueberry pie from Dysarts, and some Stephen King books, from Sprague.

One positive, Pennsylvanians will get to sample some of Maine's finest.
