Maine men's basketball returns home on Wednesday night

BANGOR (NEWS CENTER Maine) -- The University of Maine men's basketball team's home opener is Wednesday night. The Black Bears are 0-6 and will look for their first win against Princeton.

The team is under new leadership this year, and many people may know the new coach, Richard Barron. Barron coached the Black Bear women for six years before taking a medical leave in January 2017. He was named America East Coach of the Year in 2015.

This offseason, Barron brought the team to Costa Rica. He says with so many new players and a new staff, it was an opportunity for the team to establish culture. A member of that new coaching staff is Edniesha Curry. She says they're looking forward to tonight.

"Just to be home. I mean we've had great fans on the road but I'm just excited, I know the guys are excited to play you know in front of friends and family and the students here, it's just nice to be home and it's been a long time on the road." Curry said.

Tip-off is at 7 p.m. at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.
