GORHAM (NEWS CENTER Maine) -- On this gorgeous in April, hundreds of Mainers were out and about playing spring sports, but a few young girls in Gorham are being honored for sticking with a fall sport: football.
They're called the Girls of Fall. The group is made up of about 25 females ages 7-17 who suit up and play football with the boys in their hometowns across Maine
The girls will receive donations and grants for equipment from the Maine Mayhem women's football team to encourage them to continue playing the game they love.
"It's a chance to show other girls that not just boys can play football," says Kiersin Boyle, on of the players.
The girls will be honored at halftime of the Mayhem's game this Saturday, April 28.
