EAST HARTFORD, Connecticut (NEWS CENTER) -- One person is dead after a small plane crashed in East Hartford on Tuesday afternoon and federal agencies, as well as East Hartford police, are investigating.

The twin-engine Piper PA 34 plane was on its final approach to Brainard Airport, according to the FAA, and it crashed and burst into flames around 3:40 p.m. on Main Street, near Pratt and Whitney, a company that makes aircraft engines.
