6 Who Care: Cyndi Broyer

The Fryeburg and Lovell communities have been graced with Cyndi Broyer’s volunteer efforts for more than 35 years.

As Cyndi became aware of the number of teen pregnancies and what she feels is the lack of appropriate services in the area, she decided to take charge by initiating the Mother Seton Program in 2008. By 2014, a house was acquired for the program which now provides a safe residence for pregnant women, new mothers, and their babies.

Through The Mother Seton House, mothers in western Maine and nearby New Hampshire communities can learn the skills to be independent and live on their own. As the heart, backbone, and voice of Mother Seton House, Cyndi secures trustworthy managers for the house, trains mentors for the young mothers, and organizes the volunteers who assist within the house.

She tirelessly advocates for the mothers and their babies as she is transporting donated clothing to those that need it, answering questions from the guests in the house, and enlisting support of the community for this program.

Cyndi listens to her heart and leads by example. With her love and care for others, she creates a nurturing environment for young mothers to learn to care for their babies and become a part of their community.
