SANILAC COUNTY, Mich. (The Republic) — A Michigan man convicted of rape has been granted joint legal custody of the child that resulted from the sexual assault.
Christopher Mirasolo, 27, served more than six years in prison for raping a 12-year-old girl when he was 18, according to WLX News 10 in Michigan.
The news station reported that Mirasolo has been granted parenting time and joint custody of the now 8-year-old boy.
The child's mother is fighting the decision under the federal Rape Survivor Child Custody Act, according to the Detroit News.
A hearing is scheduled for Oct. 25.
