(NEWS CENTER) -- The University of Maine system has unveiled plans for a new graduate center that aims to give students a competitive edge in the job market.

The proposed project would cost about $150 million dollars, and would bring graduate programs in law, business and policy together in a new building located in Portland.

Officials say the change will make it easier for students to pursue a graduate degree that integrates courses from different disciplines, making them more marketable future employees for Maine companies.

This is a multi-stage proposal. Trustees must first approve phase one of the project, which includes several fundraising and program milestones, before a new building will be considered.
