CORNISH, Maine (NEWS CENTER) — Two men in the Sacopee Valley region are accused of conspiring to destroy a truck for insurance purposes, county sheriff's deputies said.
According to the York County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded early last month to a vehicle theft report at Call's Shop N' Save in Cornish. Dale Harrington, 51, of Fryeburg, told deputies his 2013 Toyota Tundra had been stolen from the store lot, located along Route 25.
Later that month the sheriff's office was tipped off of a vehicle matching the truck's description found deserted in a field in Parsonsfield, extensively damaged. The truck was valued at $25,000.
Following the investigation, deputies determined that Harrington and alleged co-conspirator Harold Cole, 36, of Parsonsfield, worked together to destroy the truck for insurance purposes. Cole was summoned for aggravated criminal mischief.
Harrington was charged with insurance deception, a Class B crime.
Both will make court appearances in January.
