Tim Woitowitz spent the last 10 years “Making Change,” helping youths in crisis through a program he started by the same name. Every one of those years, he was “on call” as a mentor and friend 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Tim also applied his experience as a musician to develop a music program for BCOPE, the alternative high school for the Belfast area. He acquired a host of instruments and then taught the students for free because he feels “music challenges the mind, focuses personal discipline and provides a balm for the soul.”
From there, Tim was drawn to volunteer for Restorative Justice of Waldo County, a program designed to keep youthful lawbreakers from being placed in the criminal justice system. Tim’s commitment to community is also evident through his 13 years of running fundraising events for Hospice Volunteers of Waldo County.
Dolly Sullivan, Teaching Principal of BCOPE started her letter of recommendation with “Simply put—Tim is the BEST! Tim embodies the word volunteer, and there is probably a picture of this smiling face in the dictionary next to that word.”
