HAMPTON, N.H. (NEWS CENTER) -- An investigation is underway after an officer-involved shooting outside a liquor store off I-95 left one man dead Tuesday.

36-year-old Barry Jones of Portsmouth was pronounced dead Tuesday afternoon, according to the New Hampshire Attorney General's office.

They say New Hampshire State Police issued a "BOLO," or "be on the lookout," for Jones around noon; he allegedly took his neighbor's 2002 Silver Ford Ranger pickup truck, was armed with a handgun, and pointed the gun at an individual. He also indicated he wanted the person to drive with him to Lawrence, MA to get drugs, according to the NH AG.

They say Jones then crashed the truck minutes later on Grafton Drive in Portsmouth, which damaged the front left tire.

A NH State Trooper then spotted the truck at the New Hampshire Liquor Store Outlet in Hampton.

The two State Troopers have been placed on paid administrative leave, and their names are being withheld. Both are standard protocol.

Surveillance video from the liquor store is also under review.

There were 15 customers, three vendors and eight employees in the liquor store at the time of the shooting. There were also 2 employees at the adjacent country store.
