Snow piles up overnight, then it's all about the warmth | Breton Blog

Snow is moving in, but it's a quick-hitter. The timing hasn't changed much, but it looks like the snow will fall at a bit of a heavier clip overnight.

Either way, the snow will quickly end Sunday morning, and the sun will come out from west to east.

Snow totals have been bumped up by a couple of inches. I'm expecting 3 to 6 inches in much of southern Maine; 1 to 3 inches in central and northern Maine. It will be a wetter snow near the coast and fluffier farther inland.

This will start to melt away Sunday afternoon as temperatures rise above freezing and the sun goes to work.

Snow overspreads western and central Maine between 8 pm and midnight.

The heaviest will fall overnight until about sunrise Sunday. Between 2 and 6 AM, some places may see snowfall rates of an inch per hour.

By 8 AM, the snow is already over in western Maine, with the sun breaking through the clouds. Snow will end in eastern Maine by about 11 AM.

This is a blip in a mild pattern.

Sunday and Monday will be great ski days with the fresh snow.

By Tuesday, highs will reach the 50s and record warmth is possible Wednesday. Here's an early look at the potential highs.
