GORHAM, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A new political party for Shawn Moody may signal a new bid for elected office.

Moody told NEWS CENTER Tuesday that he has joined the Republican Party. Moody was not previously enrolled with a party, and he ran as an independent for Governor in 2010. He's a well known business owner from Gorham with a chain of auto body shops in southern and central Maine.

Moody said this summer he was considering running again, but wasn't sure if he would join a party to do it. Moody said Tuesday he still has not made a final decision whether to run, but he acknowledged that enrolling as a Republican is a step in that direction. He said a final decision will be made before Thanksgiving.

Three Republicans are already in the race for Governor, and Sen. Susan Collins says she will decide this week whether to run for the Blaine House as well.
