AUBURN, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- For at least one visitor to an Auburn church last weekend, wearing their Sunday best included a badge on their chest and a holster on their hip.
Local police increased their patrols around churches throughout the city. The gesture was intended to instill a sense of security after the mass shooting at a church in Sutherland Springs, Texas.
Although no on-duty officers were seated in the pews at the Christ Temple Church of God in Christ, parishioners said their presence was felt and appreciated.
