*UPDATE* 10/7 11:59 p.m. – A man from Portland was seriously injured in the crash, Portland police said in an update Friday.

Police said the 43-year-old, a pedestrian, was struck around 8:15 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Washington Avenue and Presumpscot Street by a vehicle driven by Jose Rodriguez-Arriaga, 22, also of Portland.

Rodriguez-Arriaga was issued a criminal summons by police for operating without a licesnse at the time of the crash.

The victim was not immediately identified due to pending notification of next of kin.

PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) — A person was involved in a "serious pedestrian accident" Thursday night in Portland.

Police said the victim involved was taken to the hospital, but it was not immediately clear whether they were injured.

The crash happened on Washington Avenue nearby Anania's variety store, according to witnesses. Police said traffic was detoured at Inverness and Presumpscot streets.
