PORTLAND (NEWS CENTER Maine)-- On this week's edition of "Political Brew," NEWS CENTER Maine political analysts John Richardson and Phil Harriman say Gov. LePage was wrong to publicly criticize Maine Supreme Court Justice Joseph Jabar for allegedly breaking a verbal agreement to step down once he reached 20 years on the bench.

Harriman says LePage "basically called the Supreme Court Justice a liar. That is pretty much over the top."

Richardson says it is 'sour grapes' from the governor. He says Jabar is a man of great integrity, and LePage is someone who has admitted lying to the press. "Who are you going to believe? I'm gonna believe Joe Jabar."

Harriman and Richardson also discuss the growing political movement among teenagers who are pressing lawmakers to take steps to make schools safer in the wake of the Parkman, Florida massacre. Harriman hopes they will sustain the effort because issues tend to get pushed aside quickly in Washington.

He and Richardson believe politicians will be held accountable for how they act on this issue.

The analysts also tackle the growing drug overdose epidemic, the steps being taken to prevent hacking of Maine's election systems, the latest effort by lawmakers to draft marijuana sales rules, and whether Maine Republican Party Executive Director Jason Savage should keep his job now that the state ethics panel has voted not to investigate his creation of the Maine Examiner website.

Political Brew is seen Sundays on NEWS CENTER's Morning Report.
