LEWISTON, Maine (NEWS CENTER)-- State and Lewiston Police are investigating the stabbing of a man inside a Lewiston barbershop Wednesday night.
According to Steve McCausland with the Maine Department of Public Safety, the victim was stabbed in the stomach and chest and has undergone emergency surgery at Central Maine Medical Center.
McCausland said 35-year-old Rashad Robinson of South Paris was stabbed at "Major Cuts" on Chestnut Street while he was getting a haircut. He said 23-year-old Michael Barrucci of Otisfield was arrested and charged with elevated aggravated assault. McCausland said, Barrucci is dating Robinson's estranged wife, who was also in the barber shop at the time of the stabbing.
Following the stabbing, Robinson staggered out from the barber shop onto the sidewalk and collapsed.
McCausland said police continue to monitor Robinson's condition and conduct interviews with others who were in the barber shop at the time of the stabbing.
