*UPDATE* 11/21 9 p.m. – The suspect's vehicle has been located, according to a post on Brewer Police's Facebook page.

Despite witness reports of a young child being present in the vehicle's backseat, police said they had no reason to believe any juveniles were in danger.

BREWER, Maine (NEWS CENTER) — Police in Brewer are searching for a car they say fled the scene of a crash Tuesday night.

Brewer police said the car hit the side of a house and knocked down power lines on Summer Street at about 7 p.m., then drove away.

A witness said they thought they saw a child in the backseat.

Public Safety Director Jason Moffitt said he didn't seem to think it was anything other than the driver fleeing the scene of a crash, but said he intends to keep the public informed with any updates.

Emera crews were on scene working to restore power.

This is a developing story.
