(NEWS CENTER)-- Red Sox legend Bobby Doerr died at the age of 99. As Red Sox nation mourned his passing, we caught up with some people who were alive to watch him play back in the 1940's to get their memories.

"He personified baseball player. In my mind, and I wasn't an authority on baseball. I liked them fellas when they played. It was a nice game, and they were always nice. They looked nice, there uniforms always looked good on em." said Joe Mitchell of Portland
