HOWLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Maine State Police are investigating a burglary that took place at the Howland Post Office this week. Investigators say they're looking for two people who stole packages that "likely" contain Christmas presents.

Before the incident, the lobby of the post office was open 24 hours. Police say the stolen packages were locked inside a storage area, and the suspects forced their way in. The incident occurred some time between 4:15 p.m. Wednesday and 8:30 a.m. Thursday.

Police are asking anyone with information to call 207-973-3700.

Our reporters confirmed that the lobby appears to be locked after business. A manager at the post office did not wish to comment.
