The relationship between parents and their children's coaches goes back forever. Sometimes that relationship can be contentious. If a parent or a small group of parents does not approve a specific coach, sometimes, they end up in a position of power to have a coach removed. There have been cases where very publicly popular coaches, are relieved of their duties. Sometimes, the lesser is greater than the majority.
There is a national movement underway as well as local ones to try to give coaches some type of protection where they at least are given due process before being fired.
Granted, in some cases coaches deserve to be fired, and the public is not always aware of all of the details that the administration has in hand.
It is a complicated and ongoing topic that is constantly being discussed.
