WATERVILLE (NEWS CENTER Maine) -- Some folks in Waterville were in for quite the surprise when they came to fill up at the Mobil gas station in the city. After the fact, they realized it wasn't gasoline they put into their cars.
According to the Associated Press, the Kennebec Journal reports the owner of the gas station has received complaints about damage to customers' cars after a mix up at the pump. The owner is investigating the incident.
"The diesel got mixed into the gas down at the gas station," said Kevin Strickland, who says his car was damaged. It cost him nearly $800.
Strickland says his car wouldn't start. He took his car to a repair shop where he learned there was diesel in the engine
We reached out to the gas station owner Thursday, but did not receive a response.
