Arrest made after a man is shot in Garland

Police have arrested a man after a shooting in Garland send another man to the hospital Thursday night.

GARLAND (NEWS CENTER Maine) — Police have arrested a man after a shooting in Garland send another man to the hospital Thursday night.

Police were called to a home on Dexter Road in Garland where a man had been shot around 7 p.m.

The wounded man was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries and police searched for the shooter.

About an hour later police found Abimelec Castanon also known as Neftali Colon Jr. at a motel in Medway.

Police say Castanon was arrested without incident and is being charged with elevated aggravated assault. He was taken to the Penobscot County Jail.

Part of Route 157, which is a major route into Millinocket, was closed during the incident for more than an hour but has since been reopened.

A man was shot in Garland Thursday night, police confirm.

Cruisers were seen responding to Dexter Road. Police say he was transported to Eastern Maine Medical Center to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. No information was given on suspects, but police say there is no threat to the public.

The investigation is ongoing.
